The holiday spirit is abounding in the Lowcountry and we can’t wait to start our crafting projects. Start with DIY holiday wreaths; whether you want a welcoming jingle bell wreath or a modern boxwood – or both! – we’ve got your how-to here:

We love the idea of putting these little beauties on the back of the door to keep the bells ringing throughout your decked halls.

Gather the Goods

You’ll need:

  • 16 gauge wire
  • Jingle bells
  • Ribbon
  • Needle-nosed pliers

Get in the Loop

Take your wire and form it into a circle of your desired diameter.  Simply create a closed loop at one end of your wire.

File the bells onto the wires and tie the open end to the closed. Repeat a few times for a large, layered look like the one above.

A Modern Boxwood Wreath

boxwood wreathThese are perfect for any and every moderately empty space. They’re fresh without being fussy. And they’re not too hard to create, either.

Gather the Goods

You’ll need:

  • Floral wire
  • Vine wreath form
  • Wire cutters
  • 10 preserved boxwood branches

Get in the Loop

Start by clipping 2-3″ sprigs from your boxwood branches. Take your wreath form (grapevine preferable) and start fastening your 3″ sprigs piece by piece and fastening with floral wire.

Begin with the outside of the wreath form and move inward, subtly overlapping pieces. Once it’s as full as you like, trim it to your liking and hang that baby proudly!
